Severance takes place in two worlds, following the staff of the mysterious Lumon Industries as their memories are split in two and their humanity is unknowingly tampered with. It's an original idea executed with a visual flare and flawless cast few shows on this list can claim to match.
Led by an electric Adam Scott, the twisty sci-fi drama is a Babushka doll of ideas, at once a thrilling mystery, a rich character study, a satire of corporate greed, and a claustrophobic psychological horror that puts its audience in an inescapable cage with its characters.
Endearing in its portrayal of the humans at its centre and genuinely surprising in its twists and villainy, Severance is a dazzling, unsettling drama, mixing dystopian horrors with surreal comedy and relatable workplace struggles (especially in the wake of the pandemic). It's second season can't come soon enough.
