When we first meet Lydia Martin in MTV's angsty supernatural horror-drama series Teen Wolf, she's on top of the world, thriving as her high school's most popular student and making waves for her party planning and love life. But then her world is turned violently upside down, and her façade crumbles.

You see, like almost everyone in high school, Lydia isn't totally honest about herself, and in carving out her name for herself, she's buried the supremely intelligent, loving woman she really is under a fake persona desperate for acceptance. Bitten by a werewolf and turned into a banshee, she finally comes into her own.

Selfless and brave, Lydia's growth from high school mean girl to world-saving heroine with immeasurable power is the show's best arc, full of heartbreak, sacrifice and plenty of laughs. Teen Wolf was never perfect (though it was very entertaining), but Lydia always was.
