17. 26th Century Enterprise – Star Trek: Final Frontier

After the cancelation of Star Trek: Enterprise in 2006, an animated series set in the 26th century was nearly green lit for release on the official Star Trek website. While that show never made it beyond the conceptual phase, Star Trek: Final Frontier would've followed a young Captain Chase and the crew of the Enterprise – set 150 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation.

A series of concept images were produced including an appropriately far future Enterprise which eschewed the traditional saucer section for a flat, angular primary hull. This remains one of the more radical departures from Matt Jeffries' original 1960s Enterprise, but even with the aircraft carrier-like structure replacing the saucer, it's still undeniably recognizable as an Enterprise.
