14. Klingons – Star Trek Into Darkness

KLINGON CONCEPT
Paramount Pictures

After the Klingons were hidden underneath helmets and then ultimately cut from Star Trek (2009) altogether, Neville Page got the opportunity to put his stamp on Star Trek's most famous adversaries (and friend-versaries) for 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness.

Described by Page as "sexier" Klingons, a series of Klingon makeup concepts was produced featuring pronounced chins, stark blue eyes, and (in one rendering) pangolin-like scales running down the back of the head.

Ultimately these handsome Klingons were abandoned for a makeup appliance that was simpler and less onerous for the poor actor who had to wear it. While these Klingons didn't make it into Into Darkness, it's clear they were a jumping off point for Page's revised Klingons from Star Trek: Discovery.
