19. Penny Was Katie
Had the show been picked up from its original pilot, things may have turned out much differently for the Big Bang Theory. Although it was a whole lot more adult than the final version that weve grown to love, the pilot actually contained similar scenes to the first episode. It starts with Leonard and Sheldon donating sperm to a high IQ sperm back, but this time they dont discuss the issue and decide to leave (read, chicken out). However, this time they meet a new female friend called Katie, who happens to be sitting on the pavement crying after breaking up with her boyfriend and becoming homeless. Leonard invites her to stay with them and the story goes from there. Thankfully, the witty tough cookie that was Katie was scrapped because of negative reactions in an audience survey and replaced with the Penny character we all love. The pilot also featured a different theme tune, She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas Dolby instead of the now famous The Big Bang Theory by the Barenaked Ladies.
