20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sons Of Anarchy

20. Kurt Sutter Is Actually Scared Of Dolls

One of the things Sons Of Anarchy was really good at was imbuing its characters with unique, idiosyncratic foibles that made them feel less like two-dimensional archetypes and more like fully rounded human beings. Albeit not human beings you'd ever like to meet down a dark alley. Or a brightly lit alley. Or even a location that seemed safe, populated and in broad daylight. Anyway, one of the more bizarre little character quirks was Tig's fear of dolls. It's an acute phobia that never actually comes up as a proper plot point €“ except maybe that time he tripped balls on magic mushrooms and wound up sobbing and apologising to a Native American doll in a field €“ but was fun nonetheless. How did the writers come up with such a strange little piece of a character's personality? They didn't. Well, not really. Pediophobia is an actual, real-life phobia, and it's something that series creator Kurt Sutter for real suffers from. Not as weird as Billy Bob Thornton and antiques.
