The makers of Sons Of Anarchy pay attention to every little thing when it comes to providing an accurate depiction of how motorcycle gangs actually work. Well, most of the time, anyway. Nowhere is that more clear than in the costume design €“ besides all the bikes, anyway €“ with the importance of appearance highlighted by the rather extreme measures SAMCRO take whenever somebody wants to leave the gang. Whenever somebody gets kicked out or otherwise decides to get out of the biker gang game are obliged to forfeit anything and everything that bears the club logo, including tattoos (which, in several memorable scenes, they burn off) and patches. Patches are pretty important. A certain patch (the Men of Mayhem) signifies a member has shed blood, so a lot of people have them.
