20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn’t Know About Family Guy

9. Quagmire Raping Marge Was The Joke Too Far

Fox

Unless you watch Family Guy on DVD or its Adult Swim re-runs, then you've missed out on many more risqué jokes. Cutting down episodes for original airing is common in network television and the Family Guy writers take advantage of that to make jokes that their fans would love, but couldn't be aired on first broadcast.

By far the most extreme of these comes from Season 6's Movin' Out (Brian's Song). The first act ends with Lois chastising Brian about his relationship with Jillian. And in the broadcast version that's all there is. On the DVD, however, this is accompanied with a banner ad for The Simpsons that sees Quagmire force himself on Marge before the two go back to the family house, where he proceeds to shoot the family. Dark, dark stuff. This was the culmination of a growing, but often friendly, feud between the two shows that was slowly descending into hell and resulted in Fox stepping in (something they notoriously never did with these series), telling them to halt their ribs at each other. Over time the wounds healed, leading to the official crossover.
