20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn’t Know About Family Guy

10. The Opening Is A Parody Of All In The Family

CBS

Some people have been so bemused by the opening of Family Guy that they've actually made Facebook groups registering their hellish confusion. You could chalk it up as testament to Family Guy's wide appeal, but it could easily be a generational thing; the opening is pretty classical, particularly the introduction with Peter and Lois at the piano, a callback to one of the writers' favourite sitcoms, All In The Family.

A long running seventies comedy, there's a lot of the show's DNA in Family Guy; entire episode concepts have been liberally lifted. Family Guy isn't the first animated show to homage this opening. In one of many cases of "Simpsons did it first", their Season 9 episode Lisa's Sax saw Marge and Homer giving a more direct parody, complete with singing off note.
