20. Lois Was Going To Be Blonde

Before getting a full season commissioned, Fox gave Seth MacFarlane scant cash to make a rough pilot for the show. Script-wise this is pretty much word-for-word the same as the official first episode, Death Has a Shadow, but visually it serves as a window into the production process.

Some characters are more generic and other voices are clearly still developing (hell, the voice of Quagmire is given to a regular guy). One of the most striking differences is Lois, who is blonde, rather than the ultimate red head. If you've ever wondered why Chris is the only blonde Griffin, this is it. Both he and Meg share explicit traits with both their parents (Meg has Peter's hair and glasses and Lois' nose and mouth, Chris has Peter's build and nose), with the one outlier being his hair colour; it was originally going to be from Lois, but didn't change with hers.
