19. And Most Of The Female Cast Auditioned For Buffy
The other actresses who auditioned for Buffy must have been pretty miffed when the role went to someone who didn't even originally audition for the character. Luckily for them though - perhaps as consolation - several of those actresses ended up being in the show in different roles. Some of the Buffy auditionees include Mercedes McNab, who went on to play Cordelia's second-in-command Harmony, eventual Amy the witch Elizabeth Anne Allen, Julia Lee who played Buffy and Angel recurring character Anne and Julie Benz who got the role of Angel's other blonde lover, Darla. At one point or another they all ended up antagonising Sarah Michelle Gellar's Buffy so that probably made them feel a little better about missing the lead role.
