13. Willow was Originally Played By Someone Else

Of all the characters in Buffy, Willow is one of the most beloved with actress Alyson Hannigan giving an acclaimed performance as the character who arguably changes the most throughout the series. It's pretty mind-blowing to think then that in the unaired Buffy pliot, Willow was played by someone else entirely. While the other members of the Scooby Gang are present and correct, Willow is played by one Riff Regan. Sorry Ms Regan, but the production team made the right decision when they recast the role once the series was green-lit. Extra fact: the original choice for Xander - although he didn't make it to the pilot episode - was another alliterative 'R' actor; some guy called Ryan Reynolds. Wonder what happened to him...
