Bryan Fuller has an impressive CV even before you get to his time running Hannibal. The writer had previously created and worked on cult series such as Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls and a modern update of The Munsters called Mockingbird Lane (the latter of which might be the most underrated of all his great, underrated shows).

He's also one of those clever autuers whose work is all set in the same universe, even when they aired on totally different networks and – in the case of Mockingbird Lane and Hannibal – were based on existing properties, rather than being the original creations of Fuller himself. He still manages to sneak some connective tissue in there.

In the case of Hannibal, that tissue is the Wonderfalls character Gretchen Speck, who appeared in the episode “Amuse-Bouche”. Wonderfalls character Marianne Marie Beatle also popped up in Hannibal, Pushing Daisies and Mockingbird Lane. It's all connected. Probably don't want Lee Pace's Daisies character resurrecting Hannibal's victims...
