For a prime time show on a major network, Hannibal gets away with a lot of stuff. In some cases the series pushed the boundaries of gore to places even cable shows like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones dare not tread. Namely all the bodily dismemberment and cannibalism on the part of the title character and the various villains throughout.

Strangely, the one place NBC did draw the line? On seeing a butt crack. One episode of season two saw a couple murdered and their flayed skin in such a way to resemble the wings of an angel. The scene from “Amuse-Bouche” was one of the most grisly in the entire run of Hannibal, but it wasn't the gore the network didn't approve of.

No, it was the fact you could see the butt cracks of the murdered couple from behind as they were strung up. Bryan Fuller's compromise? Trails of bloods that concealed the horrible nudity. Yes, NBC really didn't think it was as big a deal to have a load of viscera smeared over a behind instead the natural fold between bum cheeks. America!
