20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About South Park

16. The Movie Was Originally Rated NC-17

The South Park feature film is one of the most notoriously vulgar movies ever made, and it still holds the record for most swearing in an animated film. Naturally, it ran into a lot of issues with the MPAA. For months, the organization gave the movie an NC-17 rating, all the way up until a few weeks before it premiered. That would have been absolutely toxic for the movie's box office, but did Trey Parker and Matt Stone care? Nope. In fact, every time they sent the film back to the MPAA for a re-rating, they intentionally made it more vulgar than it was before.

For example, in the original cut, there was a scene with an Internet video of Cartman's mom having sex with a horse. You don't really see a whole lot, but the MPAA still wouldn't allow it, so in response, Parker and Stone changed it to be a much more graphic scene involving German scheisse porn. For some reason, that was allowed to stay. "Every time they made us cut something, we put in something worse as a big middle finger to them, and every time they'd okay it," Matt Stone explained.

So by trying to cut the film back, the MPAA indirectly made it more vulgar than ever. Good job!
