The Scientology episode was notoriously controversial, and after it aired, the church tried to do anything they could to take down the show's creators. In a set of leaked documents, it was revealed that the church called for a "classic investigation" into the lives of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, which included identifying their friends, looking into their public records, and going through their freaking garbage to find anything remotely incriminating.

According to a former church member, they were looking for, "Phone records. Bank Records. Personal letters that expose some kind of vulnerability. They'll read into the kind of alcohol you're drinking and how much. Prescriptions. They'll figure out your diet. They can find out a lot about you through your trash." That is absolutely terrifying.

Unfortunately for the church, they came up empty because apparently Parker and Stone are just two pretty normal dudes who happen make a funny cartoon. Despite all the fear tactics, they would never stop making fun of Scientology, and hopefully they never will until the day they die.
