20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About American Dad

16. Original Steve

Fox

Before American Dad was picked up for a full series, the creators made a short pilot to get their point across to Fox. Following the same script as the first episode that ultimately aired, on a visual level it's interesting to see the development. The biggest difference is Steve's design; he's much more scrawny and even geekier than the final version.

Played here by Ricky Blitt, a voice actor with a few bit parts on Family Guy, when Scott Grimes came on board the design was changed to the one we're more familiar with. In the long-run it makes a lot of sense, allowing Steve to serve as more than just a go to geek; despite not being a ladies man, he succumbs to that age old sitcom trope of having an unbelievable success rate with the ladies.
