20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Arrow

8. It Is Sticking To The Comics

Green Arrow wasn€™t always a popular hero (shockingly enough.) For the first twenty years of his existence in DC comics, he was a minor recurring character. This all changed in the Sixties when the character lost his fortune and was forced to live like the rest of society. The character became infinitely more likable, and it helped him to garner the fans necessary forDC to invest a whole comic book in the emerald archer. The first series of the show portrayed Oliver Queen as a billionaire playboy, but having lost his company to Isabel Rochev in the second season, and now having his company being run by Ray Palmer, the character is well and truly broke. He is sleeping in the Arrow-cave, and has been offered a room in Thea's flashy new pad being paid for by her sinister father. The show has stuck to the comic book source material, and it is having the same impact. Seeing Oliver Queen as a normal person embraces the humanity of the hero, meaning that the show doesn't stagnate. It has mixed the program up and shown us a different side to a character that audiences felt they already knew pretty well.
