20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Arrow

19. It Is Influencing The Comics

The character of John Diggle was created specifically for the show, but in DC's rebooted continuity - the New 52 - the character has joined Oliver Queen on his heroic escapades. Likewise, although Felicity Smoak made her comic debut back in the Eighties, the New 52 version is virtually identical to Emily Bett Rickards€™ character in Arrow. Felicity Smoak was introduced in the comics as a partner for Firestorm, who will soon be appearing in Arrow's sister series, The Flash. She was the manager of a computer software firm which was damaged by his recklessness while stopping a villain, with the software manager eventually trying to cool the hotheaded hero down and get him to think about the repercussions of his actions. In the New 52, she is a hacker for hire who is employed to kill Oliver, although she switches sides and joins his crusade when she realises that he was being targeted because he was Green Arrow. Andrew Kreisberg, who works on Arrow, wrote this comic, so the similarities are by no means a coincidence. John Diggle is one of Arrow€™s most popular characters €“ he is loyal, lovable and now he is a family man with a child. David Ramsay€™s character has garnered so much popularity that he has now been immortalised in the comic book panels. Like Chloe Sullivan in Smallville, this on screen creation looks set to remain as one of Green Arrow€™s trusted confidants for the foreseeable future - on screen and in the comic books.
