20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Breaking Bad

1. Bryan Cranston Cried For 15 Minutes After Filming Jane's Death

AMC

Jane's death is a pivotal point in Heisenberg's development, marking the first time where Walter does something the audience can, in no slight way, get behind. Letting Jesse's relapsed junkie girlfriend choke to death on her own vomit is the first of many utterly unforgivable moments that have repercussions seasons into the future. Early story discussions had Walter more active in her death, with one idea having him engineer her overdose. This was ultimately toned back, with anything more involved deemed too much for the character at this point in time, but it still remained a shocking moment for all involved.

To fully get himself in the right mental space for the scene, Bryan Cranston imagined his real-life (Taylor Dearden, who cameoed in a Season 3 episode) in the same situation. This led to a totally genuine performance in the scene, but not without some emotional side effects; Cranston reportedly found the whole thing so scarring he cried for fifteen minutes after shooting.
