3. Fry's A Rebel Without A Cause

When Fry arrives in the future his clothes are more than a little out of date. Of course, he was probably used to that because even in his own era his style was fifty years behind the time. Fry's look may initially seem to be a typical slacker get up - faded jeans, loose fitting jacket over t-shirt - but in fact it comes from the height of cool.

The designers based his outfit on James Dean's in Rebel Without A Cause, the animated version being almost an exact copy, aside from the upturned collar (I doubt Fry could pull that off). It's a big nod to the film and yet has managed to go over many fans heads.
