20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Simpsons

3. D€™oh Has Never Been Scripted

It€™s the most iconic part of The Simpsons empire. Homer Simpson's€™ d'oh is so ubiquitous it€™s even made it€™s way into the Oxford English Dictionary (under the apostrophe-less, but Groening approved, spelling doh) and yet it€™s never appeared in a script for the show.

It€™s fairly common knowledge Dan Castellaneta came up with D€™oh himself, using Jimmy Finlayson€™s catchphrase from Laurel And Hardy as inspiration, but the scriptwriters are yet to write it into the show. To this day, whenever the exclamation is used, it€™s written as €˜Annoyed Grunt€™.

Suddenly bizarre episode title like E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt) - the tomacco episode - make a lot more sense.
