20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Simpsons
3. Doh Has Never Been Scripted
Its the most iconic part of The Simpsons empire. Homer Simpson's d'oh is so ubiquitous its even made its way into the Oxford English Dictionary (under the apostrophe-less, but Groening approved, spelling doh) and yet its never appeared in a script for the show.
Its fairly common knowledge Dan Castellaneta came up with Doh himself, using Jimmy Finlaysons catchphrase from Laurel And Hardy as inspiration, but the scriptwriters are yet to write it into the show. To this day, whenever the exclamation is used, its written as Annoyed Grunt.
Suddenly bizarre episode title like E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt) - the tomacco episode - make a lot more sense.
