20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Simpsons

18. One Episode Wasn't Shown On TV For Five Years

911

Growing up I tried to watch as many Simpsons episodes as I could, but there was one I was unable to catch, because it wasn't shown in the UK until almost a decade after it€™s initial airing in America.

The City Of Now York Vs. Homer Simpson was due to air on BBC 2 in October 2001, but obviously events just a month before meant this episode that focused heavily on the World Trade Centre didn't seem all that acceptable. The after effect of 9/11 meant the episode went unaired in many territories, until midway through the naughties.

It may seem a bit silly now, but in the electric atmosphere of the time, everything (from Spider-Man teasers to Lord Of The Rings subtitles) came under scrutiny. And when an episode has the line €œThey stick all the jerks in Tower One€, it€™s probably best to avoid it.
