20 More TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless

16. Elisabeth Moss - Mad Men

I May Destroy You
AMC

Elisabeth Moss made her way onto this list's predecessor, thanks to her magnificent leading role in The Handmaid's Tale. But the truth is, Moss's career has been so varied and wildly successful, it wouldn't be fair to only give a shout-out to her most recent homerun.

Before she was imprisoned in Gilead and deprived of freedom, Moss had her breakout role playing an altogether different figure of female liberation and independence, in the fiercely impressive drama Mad Men.

Moss portrays Peggy Olsen, the secretary of the conniving Don Draper, and a woman trying her hardest to conform to what she thinks society wants of her, only to gradually reclaim her power in a world where women have little, and things seem destined to never change.

With a performance that is equal parts innocent, tragic, endearing, empowering and often unexpected in its twists and turns, Moss makes Peggy the show's most impressive supporting player, which in Mad Men is really saying a lot about how great a performance she really gives.
