20 More TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless
14. Millie Bobby Brown - Stranger Things
Every now and again, a young star emerges and gives a performance so powerful, unexpected and beyond their years that it's fair to assume they're the next big thing.
Enter Millie Bobby Brown, who was only 12-years-old when the first season of Stranger Things aired. Despite her age, she stole the show from industry veterans like Winona Ryder and David Harbour (who are both admittedly awesome here, too).
In the Duffer Brothers' stylish homage to 80s culture and the horror stylings of Stephen King, Brown portrays series protagonist Eleven, a seemingly normal girl with devastating telekinetic abilities that make her both a threat and a hero to the people around her.
Brown plays Eleven with such a deft understanding of childhood woes - tackling everything from the complexities of young love to friendship - and Eleven's immeasurably strong powers that every part of her character is as endearing as the last. She's funny and innocent, confused and hopeful, and selfless and heroic all at once, and the fact that Brown is so young yet so capable makes it all the more impressive to see.
