7. Clarice
The 'Save Hannibal' campaign is still ongoing as passionate fans continue to voice their support for the return of Mads Mikkelsen's chilling villain, but the Hannibal Lecter franchise will continue to grow in new ways as CBS will be bringing his 'muse' to screens in the upcoming Clarice TV series.
Focusing on Clarice Starling in the year after The Silence of the Lambs, the psychological horror show stars Rebecca Breeds and explores how the character moves on from the Hannibal chapter of her life by returning to the field to pursue serial killers and sexual predators. Set against the high-stakes political backdrop of Washington, D.C., the series will offer a new take on the age-old mythos. The catch, however, is that the show cannot make reference to Hannibal himself due to rights issues.
A cinematic icon herself, Clarice was portrayed by Jodie Foster in the 1991 adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs in a performance that earned the actress an Academy Award. Julianne Moore took over in the 2001 sequel.
