Kahn is Star Trek’s all-time no.1 villain. He’s eloquent, he’s intelligent, he’s a worthy match for Kirk, even if his thinking can be two dimensional on occasion.
Khan saved Star Trek. For Star Trek II, the budget had been cut, the creative team changed, and the studio wasn’t going to give Star Trek many more chances. The Wrath of Khan blasted onto the screen and breathed blockbuster quality into the franchise.
Kahn himself is the standout villain in all of Star Trek, he is Kirk’s most enduring foe, even more so than the Klingons. He is driven by bitter revenge and sees only the target of his hatred as he storms across space, destroying everyone in his path, even his own people, to get to Kirk. When he finally does… Khaaaannn!!!!!! The animosity between them is so personal that you just can’t look away as they pursue each other through the stars.
