Ok, maybe it’s not Captain Archer, it’s Scott Bakula, the man is a delight! Hey, maybe it’s Sam Becket. Just saying. Now that man is a delight.
Captain Archer is great in his own right. He’s a character that goes on a literal but also very personal journey. At first, bringing his bright optimism to every situation he encounters but over time becoming hardened by the brutality of space and a chaotic universe.
We see him go to a dark place and sink to some questionable depths in search of justice and revenge. But, ultimately we see his idealism triumph and as the series progresses we see his actions, idealism and values shaping what Starfleet and the Federation is to become.
