20 Most Paused TV Moments Of The Decade

12. The Prison (The Walking Dead - Season 2, Episode 13)

The Moment: After Rick (Andrew Lincoln) reveals that every living human is infected with the virus and will become a Walker once they die, the camera pulls back to reveal a large, ominous prison complex in the background, unbeknownst to Rick and the other survivors. Why It Had To Be Paused: If you're a fan of the Walking Dead comics, this was an incredibly exciting moment, given that it signaled the onset of the story's best arc so far, introducing the brilliant villain The Governor (David Morrissey), and of course, finally killing off the show's most irritating character, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies). If you had never read the comics, it was still a great shot that required a pause simply to examine the image and try and work out what it would mean for the show's future. It was just enough of a tease to pique audience interest.
