20 Things You Didn't Know About Friends

2. The Last Episode Was A Big Deal Backstage

Everyone knows that the Friends series finale, The Last One, was event television: it€™s the fourth most watched season finale of all time, broadcast on May 6th 2004. It was a big deal to everyone involved with the show too, written by showrunners David Crane and Marta Kauffman and directed by showrunner Kevin Bright. Guest stars from yesteryear were invited to attend the filming of the episode, and Courtney Cox€™s then husband David Arquette was filming the cast backstage with his camcorder. Family and friends of the cast and crew would fill out the episode as extras, and after filming was complete, Stage 24 at Warner Bros. Studios was renamed The Friend Stage. To celebrate the series€™ ending, each of the main cast was given a piece of the pavement from outside of the café where they€™d spent have their lives as a souvenir, which is a little odd. They also had Friends yearbooks made for them by the crew, which is slightly less odd. Friends wrap parties covered a fortnight in January 2004: Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt hosted a dinner party at their home between filming the two finale episodes, featuring bottles of wine that Kevin Bright had saved from 1994, when the show began, and there would be two more larger wrap parties for cast and crew the following week.
