20 Things Doctor Who Wants You To Forget

11. A Fix With Sontarans

Colin Baker once said that ‘Jimmy Savile is much more frightening than the Sontarans.’ At the time it might have been a joke. Not anymore. Back in 1986 when eight year old Gareth Jenkins got to star alongside the Sixth Doctor in a specially written sketch, almost every young Doctor Who fan was deeply envious. It was a fun script, but even at the time it went downhill once Savile entered the TARDIS.

It had been available on the BBC worldwide DVD release of The Two Doctors, but following the posthumous reports of Savile’s sexual abuses the disk was re-pressed minus that particular extra. Ironically, Jones went on to be a campaign manager for Save the Children, but sadly, few will now even want to see his brief moment of fame.
