20 Things You Didn't Know About Gilmore Girls

10. Both Jess Mariano And Jackson Bellville Were Only Temporary Characters

Jackson and Jess didn't really cross paths with each other in the lore of Stars Hollow but they still both played an important part of Gilmore Girls which completely altered the narrative.

Jackson Douglas was only set for a handful of episodes during the first season but producers couldn’t believe the undeniable chemistry between him and Sookie so they decided to keep him in permanently. As a result, his character has been a part of over fifty episodes with wedlock to Sookie, a short-lived career as town mayor as well as three children. The couple provided some much-needed light relief in the series’ darker times.

Similarly, Jess was only planned for a short period of season two and was a mere plot device in order to delay the relationship between Lorelai and Luke. Who’d have known he’d be involved in one of the most dynamic relationships of the entire show which kept fans talking for years after it ended?
