7. The Truth About Filming For Friday Night Dinner And The Town Hall Scenes
The Friday night dinner scenes became an integral part of Gilmore Girls, often involving a lot of tension and conflict between Lorelai and her parents and it could be quite a tough pill to swallow within the show's usual frothy tone. But Lauren Graham said they were her favourite parts of the series to film because she liked performing all the drama and comedy they often involved. Graham also revealed a secret that the food at the table didn’t taste as delicious as it looked.
Contrary-wise, the town hall meetings were always enjoyable from a viewers perspective because they brought all the best Stars Hollow inhabitants together – not often you get every single one of them in the same scene. The reality was they were always the most difficult to film.
It could sometimes take up to fifteen hours to complete because all the different characters required more dialogue exchanges. It also got quite stuffy in that little building. Apparently, Sally Struthers (Babette) played a game where the cast would have to guess what was in her purse just to help pass the time.
