It's Always Sunny's fans have frequently decried the show's lack of major awards attention, for despite being one of the most consistently acclaimed sitcoms of the last 15 years, its off-kilter tone is the furthest thing from "awards bait" possible.

However, the show did finally receive three Emmy nominations in 2013, 2014, and 2015, for stunt co-ordinator Marc Scizak.

As a response to the lack of prestigious plaudits, though, they conceived the episode "The Gang Desperately Tries To Win An Award," which Charlie Day later confirmed was directly satirising the series' lack of Emmy love.

Though Rob McElhenney believes the series could run "forever" if people keep watching, fans probably shouldn't count on It's Always Sunny ever getting major awards attention for its writing, directing, or acting, sadly.
