20 Things You Didn't Know About Scrubs

8. The Missing Cast

Scrubs JD Turk Elliot
NBC

Unlike the vast majority of sitcoms, there is no single character in Scrubs who appears in every episode. The most frequent appearances belong to Donald Faison and John C. McGinley, who are only missing for three in the eighth season. Ken Jenkins, who plays Dr Bob Kelso, is missing from seven, and Zach Braff from eight.

Judy Reyes is missing from every episode of season nine, and Neil Flynn makes only one fleeting appearance in a flashback.

The reason for this is simple, and we'll get to it in more detail shortly. Simply put, some of the main cast wanted to move on from the show, and so Lawrence put in plans to create a Scrubs spin-off that ended up running as the show's ninth season. Only Faison and McGinley are credited as main cast members throughout the entirety of the final season.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
