20 Things You Didn't Know About Scrubs

6. Why The Show Ended

Scrubs JD Turk Elliot

Season eight was always meant to be the final season for Scrubs. Lawrence used the season to end J.D's story with the pitch-perfect "My Finale", and had plans to put together a spin-off featuring a whole new host of characters. However, this never came about, as ABC Studios wanted to keep the show going, despite Braff and Reyes saying they were done with the show.

Lawrence, unable to get his spin-off going, agreed to do another season. Scrubs: Med School moved filming to Culver Studios and the stories were set at the fictional Winston University, where Dr Cox and Turk worked as teachers.

Unfortunately, trying to keep the show going without the majority of the main cast proved to be the death of the show. Season nine was poorly received by fans and critics, and the show was cancelled due to dire ratings.
