20 Things You Didn't Know About Scrubs

4. The Lost Regular

One of the show's earliest guest stars, veteran comedian and TV actor John Ritter appeared in two episodes in Scrubs' debut season. Playing J.D's funny and slightly detached father Sam, Ritter showed his comedy chops and proved to be a great addition to the show. Apparently, the initial plan was to have Ritter come back as a series regular for future seasons.

Tragically, this had to be cancelled, as John Ritter passed away not too long after his episodes aired. In season four, the episode "My Cake" was dedicated to the actor and the character he brought to life.

Ritter wasn't the only actor who didn't get a chance to show his full potential on the show, either, as Brendan Fraser's Ben was apparently briefly considered for a bigger role before Lawrence decided to kill him off, in one of the show's most devastating twists.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
