20 TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless

7. Elisabeth Moss - The Handmaid's Tale

Tony Soprano The Sopranos

The Handmaid's Tale has proven over its first three seasons to be one of the most powerful and popular shows on offer. With its increasingly dark tone, timely socio-political themes and unflinching grittiness, it's sure to be remembered fondly once it comes to an end.

At the centre of the show, which is based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name, is Elisabeth Moss' portrayal of protagonist June. A Handmaid whose only purpose in her cruel dystopian world is to become pregnant, June is strong-willed and hopeful despite her troubling circumstances.

Moss' performance has gained a lot of praise from fans and critics alike for her searing complexity, likability and emotional strength. She works brilliantly alongside the show's otherwise hopeless and dark tone, making everything around her seem a little less bleak when she's around and confronting her pains head-on.

With season four on the way (and season five already green-lit), it's going to be quite the ride to see where Moss takes June next.
