20 TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless

8. Antony Starr - The Boys

Tony Soprano The Sopranos
Prime Video

In only two immaculate seasons (as of this writing), The Boys has written itself into the history books as a future classic of the superhero subgenre. It's dark, visually striking, uber-violent and cynical, and in a world dominated by superhero culture it stands as one of the most refreshing dramas currently on offer.

Though key players like Karl Urban and Erin Moriarty have already stolen fans' hearts, there is no better actor on the show than Antony Starr, who plays lead antagonist Homelander with terrifying intensity and unpredictability.

Homelander is a cross between Superman and Captain America. At once patriotic and seemingly noble, he is underneath his forced public persona a vile, murderous man with serious emotional issues and a tendency to think only of himself and his own self interest.

Starr perfectly balances every aspect of Homelander's personality, from the violent outbursts, narcissism and psychopathy, and it's safe to say fans can't wait to see where the show takes him next.
