20 TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless

18. Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Veep

Tony Soprano The Sopranos
HBO

Julia Louis-Dreyfus made a name for herself starring in the seminal sitcom Seinfeld, where she played constant fan favourite Elaine Benes with both humour and charm. But her best TV performance by a mile still belongs to her lead role in the political comedy Veep.

On the show, Louis-Dreyfus played Vice President Selina Meyer, who spent her days vying for power, respect and a solid legacy. Watching her fumble her way to power - often with hilarious results - made Veep the hit it was, but Meyer's charisma and unalloyed likability would never have been possible without Louis-Dreyfus' boundless comedic chops.

For her role, Louis-Dreyfus won a record six consecutive Emmy Awards, and garnered widespread acclaim for her performance throughout the show's impressive seven season run.

Veep surely deserves to be ranked alongside TV's greatest comedy shows, but it should also be noted that it wouldn't have been half as good without Louis-Dreyfus' pitch perfect lead role.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
