20 TV Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off

1. Sally Sparrow (Doctor Who)

sally Before she was an A-list celebrity making critically acclaimed art-house hits like Shame and Drive and filming big budget versions of beloved novels like the Great Gatsby, Carrie Mulligan starred in a single episode of Doctor Who. The episode, Blink, introduced the world to the monsters known as the Weeping Angels. And while being a statuesque quantum-locked group of aliens that can only move while not seen, and that kill you by sending you back in time provided ample entertainment, the episode would not have quite the same emotional impact were not for Mulligan's protagonist Sally sparrow. Mulligan's sweetness and innocence come into play as she casually transforms into the character of Sally, an inquisitive and adventurous girl who sets out to solve the riddle of her friend's disappearance. In the end, we learned that Sally and her friend's brother get together, both romantically and form the store Sparrow and Nightingale. We witness their one last chance meeting with the Doctor, which sets the entire story in motion from both the beginning and the end. However, we can't help but wonder about how it would've been if Sally Sparrow had her own series of adventures, both those of the mysterious Doctor Who world, battling aliens and monsters, and those within her own social life and relationships attempting to form a new business and romance. Fortunately for viewers, Carey Mulligan has made it big, so we're afforded the opportunity to see her in countless films, even if we are left with only an hour long episode of the great Sally Sparrow.
