20 TV Episodes That Are Totally Flawless

8. Pine Barrens - The Sopranos

The Sopranos
HBO

One of the most memorable aspects of The Sopranos came with the comedy it so effortlessly blended with the show's dark, gritty depictions of mob life.

Never has that balance of intelligent comedy and hard-hitting drama been better seen than in the series' third season episode Pine Barrens, which comes complete with an iconic development featuring Christopher and Paulie's attempts to find a missing mobster in the frozen woods.

Though the episode starts off serious and foreboding, once Christopher and Paulie find themselves lost in the woods - desperate to prove themselves but unable to properly work together to get the job done - it descends into an increasingly hysterical comedy of errors.

Directed by the irreplaceable Steve Buscemi, Pine Barrens is one of the groundbreaking show's best episodes, and a perfect encapsulation of what makes the series such a timeless classic.
