20 TV Episodes That Are Totally Flawless

13. Not Fade Away - Angel

Series finales are a tricky business. They can either be show-ruining letdowns (Dexter, How I Met Your Mother, Lost) or brilliant classics that end the show on an all-time high (Six Feet Under, Cheers, the aforementioned The Leftovers).

Luckily for Buffy the Vampire Slayer's moody spinoff Angel, its finale sits firmly in the latter category, serving as the perfect ending to the show and the wider Buffyverse.

With the world on the brink of another, much more unstoppable apocalypse, Angel, Spike and the gang are forced to team-up one last time to destroy the architects of the coming cataclysm - the Circle of the Black Thorn - and finally defeat the great evil that's been plaguing them for the entire show.

Not Fade Away ties up numerous loose ends, forces audiences to say goodbye to some fan favourite characters, and in its brilliantly ambiguous final shot sums up the entire show: The battles will never stop, but you better believe our heroes will always be there to fight them.
