20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless
6. Everyone's Waiting - Six Feet Under
Six Feet Under was one of the first dramas to cement HBO as a TV powerhouse, and though it wasn't quite as refined as the company's other shows - think The Wire, The Sopranos, and miniseries like Angels In America and Band of Brothers - it certainly ended better than any of them.
During its run, the family drama had been all about death and the fragility of life; how things change, often without warning, and how people are capable of moving through tragedy. It handled these themes with dark humour, heart and effortlessly affecting performances.
It made sense, then, for the show to end as it began and continued to run: With the remaining members of the Fisher family coming to terms with each other's deaths in a beautifully haunting montage set to Sia's "Breathe Me."
By the end of the episode, everyone in the family is dead, having lived great lives in spite of their hardships, and though the show had lost some of its magic in its final years, Everyone's Waiting made sure to end things with an episode that reminded fans of just how stunning an achievement it had been.
