20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless
7. Felina - Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad had been good for so long that, much like The Wire and The Sopranos before it, it seemed inconceivable that it would one day have to end.
Following on from the masterpiece Ozymandias a few episodes earlier, which saw Walter White (Bryan Cranston) go into hiding, the death of his brother-in-law Hank (Dean Norris), and the kidnapping of his former partner Jesse (Aaron Paul), Felina picks up with Walt on a last-ditch attempt to atone for at least some of his sins.
Throughout the episode, Walt mourns his past life as the untouchable meth kingpin Heisenberg, and plots a daring rescue of Jesse which ends in his inevitable demise. It's a sad and worrisome hour, predictable character-wise but still brilliantly shocking in its execution.
The best part of the episode, though, comes when Walt confronts his ex-wife, Skyler (Anna Gunn), and finally admits what his motivation had always been for being Heisenberg: "I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was...really...I was alive."
