20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless
2. Nice Whilst It Lasted - BoJack Horseman
There were many theories flying around about how BoJack Horseman could end. Was BoJack (Will Arnett) going to die? Was he going to commit suicide or overdose? Would he vanish and start a new life somewhere, away from his troubles and his heartbroken friends?
The questions were plentiful, but ultimately no one really got it right. In the finale we actually got, things were much more simple than BoJack meeting his maker or fleeing from his old life. Instead, he gets sent to jail, but gets a brief moment of freedom to attend the wedding of his ex Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), where he's given one last chance to reconnect with his old inner circle.
With stark honesty, poignant goodbyes and a haunting final scene between the titular has-been TV star and his one-time biographer Diane (Allison Brie), Nice While It Lasted is the best ending any fan of the show could have hoped for: quiet, smart, hopeful and perfectly open-ended.
BoJack Horseman spent much of its run as one of the best shows on TV, and seeing it end its harrowing journey on such a high note was simply beautiful.
