20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless

12. Person To Person - Mad Men

Much like The Sopranos before it, Mad Men ends with a divisive final shot which has sparked debate from fans ever since its 2015 release.

Person to Person finds identity thief and advertising mastermind Don Draper (Jon Hamm) at a crossroads, spending time at a Californian retreat and attempting to come to terms with all the heartbreak he both feels and has caused in his life.

As Don moves toward some grand epiphany, other characters in the series get mostly cut-and-dry send-offs, from Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and her decision to stay at McCann Erickson, to Joan (Christina Hendricks) starting her own production company, and Betty (January Jones) coming to terms with her cancer diagnosis.

Don, meanwhile, seems ready to find inner peace and accept himself, only for the final shot of the series to reveal his great epiphany was just an inspired idea for a famous Coca-Cola advert. It's a shocking, beautifully executed bolt from the blue, and one which is perfectly in-keeping with not just the show, but with the complex enigma of Don Draper himself.
