20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless

11. My Finale - Scrubs

Okay, so Scrubs actually aired another season after this, but for the vast majority of fans the show ended here, with J.D (Zach Braff) saying goodbye to Sacred Heart one last time so he can move closer to his young son.

My Finale is a one-hour slice of memorable fan service, complete with witty call-backs to earlier seasons, surprise reveals (including the Janitor's real name), and a final montage which plays out as one of J.D's many fantasies, but is teased to be how things will actually end up for him and his friends.

There is a bias, even today, which suggests that drama is superior to comedy, but Scrubs spent its entire run blurring the lines between the two and proving just how unfair that assessment is. It was hilarious one second, gut-wrenching the next, and always found a way to balance the humour and heartbreak with surgical precision.

My Finale is simply a perfect showcase of the medical dramedy's genre-mixing skills, and if J.D's final walk out the hospital doesn't make you well up, you might not be human.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
