20 Valuable Life Lessons Doctor Who Has Taught Us

3. Sometimes It's Not Fun To Win

On many occasions, when the Doctor and his companions come in to save the day from an invasion, a hostile presence or just to fix time in general, things end up on a high note. Why wouldn't they? The planet is safe (until the next week, at least!) and all the big baddies won't threaten them again. However, there are many times that, while the Doctor did technically "win", he was left worse off for it. Some of these occasions have had massive effects on the Doctor's life, such as the original assumed ending of the Time War during which the Daleks were finally defeated at the cost of Gallifrey and the Time Lords. Another was the loss of his closest NuWho companion, Rose Tyler, who he lost after saving the universe from the Daleks and Cybermen. So, while it would be devastating if the Doctor had lost on one of those occasions, his "win" on those and other occasions have left him personally devastated. Lesson Learned: Sometimes it doesn't pay to win. Think about all the possible reprecussions before going full steam toward the top spot.
