20 Valuable Life Lessons Doctor Who Has Taught Us

18. River Song's Pain Is Greater Than The Universe

River Song has led a very painful existance, from being kidnapped at birth, raised an an assassin, going through at least 2 regenerations and killing the love of her life (or so she thought at the time). However, she experienced her darkest hour in The Wedding of River Song when she said her pain and suffering from being without the Doctor would be greater than letting the universe destroy itself, due to a fixed point in time being altered. Anyone who has experienced "true love" can find sympathy in her words. Being without that significant other can feel as painful as any physical trauma and she wasn't going to let something like the end of the universe stop her from being with the man she loved. The feeling must've been mutual as well, as the Doctor told River his real name, something he has never told anyone else. Lesson Learned: To those in a strong relationship, there is no pain greater than the loss of your "true love".
